The purpose of this policy is to outline how Climeaction (“we” / “us”) deal with the personal information you provide to us, including the personal information that we may collect when you visit our website (“site”).

Our site contains links to and from other websites or applications operated by third-parties, which are not covered by this Privacy and Cookies Policy. We are not responsible for the content or privacy compliance of third-party websites. We encourage you to read the privacy and cookies policy of every website you visit.

Types of information we collect
We collect personal information in the course of providing our services. This mainly includes names, email address and phone numbers of persons that we correspond with when engaged by you or your company.

We also collect some information from your use of this site from cookies. Please see the ‘Cookies’ section below for more information on how we use cookies.

Purposes for which information is held
We collect personal information from you for one or more of the following purposes:
1. To deliver our services to you or your company
2. To process and respond to enquiries
3. To deliver, evaluate and improve our business (including, managing our communications, performing data analytics, auditing and other internal functions and enhancing and improving our services, site and systems)

4. To detect and prevent fraud and cybercrime
5. To communicate with you
6. To provide you with relevant marketing communications relating to our services
7. To comply with our legal obligations, relevant industry standards and our policies

We will only process your personal information (a) where it is necessary to do so to perform the contract that you or your company have with us or (b) where we have a legitimate interest in doing so (including internal administration functions, processing and enforcing legal claims and conducting our business in compliance with our legal obligations, relevant industry standards and our policies) or (c) where we have obtained your consent.

Cookies and similar technologies
Our site uses cookies. A cookie is a small file your browser stores when you visit a page. We use them for three things: to make the site work, to understand how the site is used, and to measure our marketing.

You choose what you allow. On your first visit a consent banner asks you to accept or refuse each category. Until you accept, we set only the cookies needed to run the site and to remember your choice. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the consent settings on our Cookie Policy page.

Services that receive information from your visit
If you accept the relevant cookies, the following services receive information about your visit. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Google Analytics tells us how the site is used, such as which pages are read and how visitors arrive. Statistics consent.
2. Google Ads measures which of our advertisements lead to enquiries. Marketing consent.
3. Meta Pixel measures the performance of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Marketing consent.
4. LinkedIn Insight Tag measures the performance of our advertising on LinkedIn. Marketing consent.
5. Snitcher identifies the organisation a visit is likely to have come from. Marketing consent. See the next section.
6. Tidio provides the chat window, so we can answer questions while you are on the site.
7. Google reCAPTCHA protects our forms from automated abuse. It runs on every visit, because without it the forms can be used to send spam.

Visitor identification
If you accept marketing cookies, we use a service to tell us which organisation a visit is likely to have come from.

It works by checking your Internet Protocol (IP) address against a database of business networks and returning an organisation name and an approximate location. Snitcher also records which pages were viewed, how long the visit lasted, where the visit came from, and basic browser and device characteristics. It sets a cookie named snitcher_device_id, which lasts one year.

Two points are worth stating plainly. Snitcher reports at organisation level and not at individual level, and it does not give us your IP address. Snitcher processes this data on servers inside the European Union.

We use this to understand which kinds of company are interested in our services, and to decide who to approach about them. If you would rather we did not, refuse marketing cookies on the banner, or withdraw consent later through the consent settings on our Cookie Policy page.

Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Some of the providers above are part of groups that operate outside the European Economic Area. Where information is transferred outside the European Economic Area, that transfer relies on the safeguards set out in the relevant provider’s data processing terms.

How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry correspondence and contact form submissions for 24 months after our last contact with you.

Where an enquiry becomes a client engagement, the records form part of that engagement and are kept for as long as the engagement and our legal and tax obligations require.

Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to:
1. ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy
2. have inaccurate information corrected
3. ask us to delete information we no longer need
4. ask us to restrict how we use your information
5. object to us using your information on the basis of legitimate interest
6. receive information you gave us in a portable format
7. withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland’s supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
