The data you need is not in your ERP
For a food manufacturer or processor, the great majority of the corporate footprint sits in purchased agricultural goods, and nearly all of that is generated on farms outside your control. Industry averages will produce a number for the report.
Averages cannot show progress
If your Scope 3 rests on secondary emissions factors, a farm that genuinely improves its practice does not move your reported figure. You are reporting the sector, not your supply base.
Audits do not scale
A consultant visit gives you good data from one farm, at a cost and lead time that make full coverage impossible. Most programmes stall at a pilot group and never reach the rest of the supply base.
Surveys go unanswered

What if our farmers have no smartphone or no signal?The assessment runs fully offline and syncs when a connection is available. Where a farmer has no device, assessments can be completed with support from a cooperative or field team using the same question set, so the data stays comparable.

Is the data good enough for external assurance?VSAg is built for it. Records are timestamped, geolocated and evidence-backed, the collection methodology is documented, and specialists review flagged responses. Bring your assurance provider in early so the evidence pack matches what they will test.

How does this fit with the emissions model we already use?VSAg supplies verified activity data. It can feed your existing footprinting or lifecycle model, or report through the VSAg dashboard. Integration options are agreed during scoping.

How is this different from a supplier survey?A survey asks a farmer to interpret technical questions and trusts the answer. VSAg shows the farmer what to record, captures it with a timestamp and location, and verifies it before it counts. That difference is what makes the data reportable.
