The Challenge
A global semiconductor manufacturer with a €20m annual energy spend faced increasing cost and emissions pressures, with energy intensity at 4.26 kWh/cm². They needed a clear plan to reduce energy use while maintaining production and meeting global reporting requirements.
The Results
The site reduced energy intensity from 4.26 to 2.83 kWh/cm² in two years, saving 58 GWh of energy. The project supported ISO 50001 and ISO 46001 certification and put the site on a clear path to further reductions.
The Solution
We conducted a full FAST assessment, identifying energy hotspots across utilities and production. We developed and delivered a phased implementation plan including equipment upgrades, process optimisation and enhanced energy management through the Energybee platform.

Cutting natural gas dependency across a multi-zone manufacturing site.

The Challenge
High dependency on natural gas across multiple zones for heating and process steam, with limited visibility and integration of energy performance data across departments. Scope 3 emissions driven by purchased goods and upstream transport, and capital constraints for high-ROI but large-scale projects such as heat pumps. Extensive site metering existed, but data quality and system upkeep had slipped.

Year 2: major capital projects including heat pumps and high-efficiency compressor upgrades targeting the highest energy-consuming systems

The Challenge
A global plastics manufacturer with five sites across Ireland, the UK, the Czech Republic, the USA and Mexico faced rising expectations from customers and regulators. Key automotive and technology customers now require science based targets from suppliers, and EcoVadis performance carries real commercial weight. Mergon needed a reliable emissions baseline, credible targets and a costed transition plan, built by its own people rather than outsourced.
The Results
They achieved an EcoVadis Platinum rating, placing it in the top 1% of rated companies worldwide. Its Climate Transition Plan sets draft targets of a 58.8% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 35% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2034 against the FY2024 baseline, on the way to net zero by 2050. The plan is CEO approved and owned by the entire team.
The Solution
We supported them end to end: strengthening policies and performance through its EcoVadis continuous improvement journey, delivering climate action training to build internal capability, guiding the executive team through the SBTi commitment and target setting process, and supporting a full Climate Transition Plan with an FY2024 baseline across all five plants, over 80% primary data and six decarbonisation levers.
